Exploring My African Roots

Duration: 12:41-minutes

Production Year: 2017

What’s in a name?  What’s in a place?

Demontray Lockhart always knew his disconnection with the USA, his birthhome, was more than just a passing phase. With a wanderer’s streak, his experiences teaching in South Korea and Thailand told him one truth : He did not know who he truly was. But that’s about to change.

This is the story of a man’s journey to discover his identity, his name and his culture. From dark dungeons to slave-cleansing waters, Demontray takes us on a journey to Africa where it all began. In Ghana, West Africa, where the horrors of slavery evolves into Demontray’s need for understanding, belonging and finally, peace.
